Out on Flexi postcard (yep with download code and B side 'Gold Hill'
After 2 years of making East London a sunnier, happier, better-looking place, the mighty FAIR OHS (Matt Flag - bass, Joe Ryan – drums and Eddy Frankel - vocals and guitar) are ready to release their next single, 'Salt Flats' via X-RAY Recordings. The single is released on flexi-postcard! Because they’re the kind of new-age free-love sorta band, the flexi-postcard will come with a bonus download of an exclusive b-side track called 'Gold Hill'.
Following an abundance of highly commended East African-inspired Garage Punk 7" singles, splits, Cassettes, compilation’s under their collective belts, (with the likes of Spectrals, Male Bonding, Cold Pumas, and Women) and their much loved debut album EVERYTHING IS DANCING, SALT FLATS sees FAIR OHS furthering their horizons into the worlds of West African/Hawaiian funk, 60s Psychedelic Rock, Eritrean Guayla music and a whole heap of Fleetwood Mac – and, in the process making a super succinct album of esoteric punk joyfulness.
The single will be released on limited edition flexi-postcard, Fair Ohs have decided to be as needlessly independent about their debut as is humanly possible, releasing it on X-RAY Recordings and sticking rigidly to their principles of how independent music should be released.
They just want the music to be out THERE, without the usual pressures of releasing music in this age of failing record labels. FAIR OHS maintain complete control and stay as true as possible to their vision of how music should exist in this day and age.
The boys are no new-comers to the world of releasing music. Having all grown up as part of the UK's Punk/DIY scene they have a long history of association with indie and hardcore labels. Bassist Matt Flag runs the burgeoning Suplex Cassettes tape empire and guitarist Eddy Frankel runs the Moshi Moshi Records world music imprint Dream Beach Records. Hopefully that means they have enough experience to not fuck up their debut album.
