Four tracks on two slabs of 180g vinyl in a gatefold sleeve from the mighty Swamp81 label, whose hit-rate continues. Like Addison Groove, Ramadanman and many others Boddika has succumed to the delights of Chicago juke / footwork, a sound he delivers on EP opener "2727", which takes the juke template and adds a solid kick, extra bass and mucho acid. "Sometimes" stays in Chicago, but heads back to the acid house era for inspiration, again providing us with a mule-like kicker. "Soul What" meshes soul samples and big synth chords with a stripped-down broken beat and jittery arperggiaos. Which leaves the bleepin' jack-trax monster "Rubba" to round things off. Superb stuff that encapsulates the state of UK bass music in 2011.
