Best Of Jan 2011 - News & Featured ReleasesView Our Best Of Jan 2011 Chart

Its a good thing that January starts slow because with the quality of releases that came later in the month this list already has some glaring ommisions.   Some brilliant records came out this month,  wide shop favourite from Lemuria, the incredible Bouncing Souls / Hot Water Music split, and some release by bands we're lucky enough to have sorted shows with from Grouplove, Chapel Club and British Sea Power.    Our staff chose their individual highlights below

Grouplove - Colours Wbeeza - Void The Bouncing Souls / Hot Water Music - Split (New Colour) Iron And Wine - Kiss Each Other Clean Lemuria - Pebble (Poster) Transit One - Various Artists / Dispatch Recordings

Other Staff:

New Slang Sean: Chapel Club
Sean Sheehy: Slingshot Dakota
Ally:  Funeral Party

Some great shows in this month.  Chapel Club played an exquisite and beautiful set at the last New Slang of the month. Yet the month, and year of course, started off with our biggest New Years Eve party yet.  Some other great shows with The Young Knives and British Sea Power at The Hippodrome, a year on from when we first moved back.  We didnt get to The Peel once in Jan, but had some solo punk at The Fighting Cocks by way of Dave Hause vs Dave House and the enigmatic Walter Schreifels.

We've had a slight change about with staff right now.  A highlight ot which is that Dave is now in the office 5 days a week, which is part of the reason why you can see more and more varied punk/hc releases in, seemingly every day.

David left The Hippodrome, and in doing so us too last week.  He's been a real help to us over the last 3 years so we're sorry to see him go, but happy for his new career.

Thanks for reading, see you next month!
