"Dave House takes everyday life and gives it vibrancy throughout his excellent second solo album 'See That No One Else Escapes'. The honest, literal lyrics that hold this album together are engaging, charming, and not even slightly sensationalist. House comes from a grounded, DIY punk background, and this is prominent in songs such as the excellent pop-rocker 'All Ds, No Future' and 'Old Girl Back', a delicate, touching piano-only tune that brilliantly references the Jade Tree back catalogue. 'For An Afternoon' is reflective of his Billy Bragg fixation: such influences and the witty lyrics throughout making Frank Turner a kinsman if we go down the 'for fans of' road. But really, this could appeal to anyone. True stories set to music simple, but brilliant. - Rock Sound
